Remove Derry Girls from UK Broadcasting and Streaming Services

Remove Derry Girls from UK Broadcasting and Streaming Services — 8 signatures. Status: rejected.

Petition background

We call on HM Government to direct Ofcom to review streaming standards regarding content like Derry Girls. Anti Protestant jokes and offensive remarks about figures like Rev. Ian Paisley trivialize traditions and religious leaders. The Government must act to protect communities from stereotyping.

Additional details

The show uses offensive stereotyping, such as mocking Protestant identity by claiming Protestants "don't like ABBA," alongside insults toward Rev. Ian Paisley. The Government must ensure media standards protect all faith communities.
