AI-generated images in property listings can mislead buyers and renters into wasting time and money on viewings that have no resemblance to reality. Although the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 offers some protection after harm has occurred, there is no legislation that proactively prevents the use of AI-generated images in property listings. We believe these images can misrepresent properties and undermine trust between buyers, renters and estate agents. We are calling on the government to ban AI-generated images in property listings
