Make cyberbullying a standalone criminal offence & raise mental health funding

Make cyberbullying a standalone criminal offence & raise mental health funding — 59 signatures. Status: open.

Petition background

Online bullying is 24/7, anonymous and inescapable for many, and can be a contributing factor in suicide. We believe it’s a public health crisis with legal gaps.

Additional details

We call on the Government to legislate to make cyberbullying a standalone criminal offence and increase funding for mental health support to protect people online. This petition is for the countless victims affected by online bullying. We want the Government to recognise that online bullying, which can be a contributing factor in suicide, is a serious public crisis – the Government must strengthen legislation, hold online platforms accountable and provide more funding for mental health support. No family should face a preventable loss.
