Drop off charges were introduced during COVID due the travel restriction in place at the time and the resulting loss of revenue. The money raised, helped to keep the employees paid and in employment during this difficult time. The purpose of the drop of charges has now been served. Airport operations have returned to normal and there are no travel restrictions. The Drop Off Charge is now being used as a profit generator and should be scrapped altogether.
