Create a national sight-loss education and employment support pathway. — 13 signatures. Status: open.
We want the Government to establish a national pathway in England ensuring visually impaired people receive appropriate specialist education, accessible learning materials, Braille and assistive technology training, independence skills and support when moving into further education and employment.
Blind and partially sighted people can face barriers throughout education and employment. Inadequate specialist teaching, inaccessible resources and limited training in Braille or assistive technology can affect qualifications, independence and career opportunities. We want clear national standards, timely assessments, trained specialist staff and coordinated support from school into adulthood and employment, including opportunities for adults to develop skills they were never taught.
