We are calling on the Northern Ireland government to reverse the new driving rules and restore the previous system. These changes delay young people’s independence and limit access to jobs, college and opportunities. We want fairness and safer roads without unnecessary restrictions for young people.
The new driving rules could make life much harder for young people across Northern Ireland, especially those living in rural areas with limited public transport. Learning to drive helps young people access jobs, college and greater independence. We understand the importance of road safety, but believe there should be a fairer balance. We urge the government to listen to young people and reconsider these changes, restoring the previous system while continuing to promote safe driving.
