Government to ensure all NHS Pension Scheme members can access up-to-date pension information and retirement forecasts within reasonable timescales, by providing funding to support NHSBSA to clear the backlog and introduce service standards for pension forecasts and retirement calculations.

Additional details

We are aware of thousands of NHS staff who are unable to access accurate pension information and Total Reward Statements due to delays linked to the McCloud remedy and NHSBSA backlogs. We are concerned that without this information many staff cannot make informed retirement decisions or choose pension and lump-sum options on retirement forms. Members wait months for responses, with no clear timescale for receiving the information needed. Staff should not be expected to make life-changing retirement decisions without accurate pension figures.
