We want the Government to create a new council tax band for retirement living. We think the current council tax rates for retirement living disproportionately affect the community, placing an undue financial burden on residents who are often on fixed incomes and receiving benefits.

Additional details

Downsizing to retirement living often does not lead to a reduction in council tax. We believe a council tax reduction for retirement living could help alleviate financial burdens on seniors, allowing them to better manage their often limited incomes while enjoying a more suitable living environment. Many retirees live on fixed incomes, making it challenging to manage their finances.
