We ask the Department for Education to review existing school classifications and consider introducing additional 'Senstream' and 'Alternative' categories to better reflect the range of educational provision available.
We believe existing school classifications fail to truly reflect our educational system. We call for a review of these classifications and consideration of two additional categories: - Senstream: For schools offering standard, mainstream qualifications alongside intensive, specialist support. - Alternative: For schools using non-traditional philosophies or short-term transitional support like PRUs. We believe the current system limits parental choice, strains current resources and complicates funding. Reforming these categories could help ensure every child thrives.
