Fund dedicated police teams to tackle men harassing women in public — 11 signatures. Status: open.
We ask the Government to fund dedicated police responses to men harassing women in public, with a simple and fast reporting route, specialist officers, better identification of repeat offenders, and increased visible patrols in areas where women report frequent harassment.
Women can face repeated catcalling, intimidation and being followed in public, yet these incidents may not receive timely follow-up when there is no immediate physical harm. We believe police need a dedicated process that recognises patterns early, links repeated reports and intervenes before behaviour escalates. A faster specialist response and visible patrols could help prevent harassment from becoming more serious.
