We want the UK Government to review and standardise the rules so licensed private hire vehicles can have equal access to road and parking facilities where hackney carriages (black cabs) are permitted, subject to appropriate safety and traffic-management requirements.
Licensed private hire vehicles and hackney carriages (black cabs) both provide licensed passenger transport, but face different rules for bus lanes, taxi ranks and designated parking. We believe these restrictions can cause longer journeys and added congestion. We want the UK Government to review these differences and create a clear, consistent framework allowing appropriate access for private hire vehicles where hackney carriages are permitted, subject to safety and traffic-management requirements.
