Urgent review of the Disability Living Allowance (DLA) appeals system

Urgent review of the Disability Living Allowance (DLA) appeals system — 10 signatures. Status: open.

Petition background

We want an urgent review into what we believe is the administrative collapse of the Disability Living Allowance (DLA) appeals system. We are specifically concerned about the time taken for the Department for Work and Pensions to provide response bundles required by the Courts service to hear cases.

Additional details

We believe the DLA appeals system has collapsed into severe judicial gridlock, denying access to justice for vulnerable children. Backlogs of DWP appeal cases have accelerated to 129,000, with DLA appeals surging by 187% and forcing families to wait an average of 37 weeks. We feel this is a breach of our human rights.
