Require restaurants to offer calorie-free menus on request — 10 signatures. Status: open.
We want the Government to require food businesses that display calories on menus to also provide, on request, a version without calorie information. This would give customers the choice of whether they wish to see calorie information.
Calorie information can be useful for some people, but for others, particularly those with eating disorders or in recovery, seeing calories displayed on menus can be distressing or triggering. People should still be able to access calorie information if they want it, while those who do not should have the option of a menu without it. Requiring businesses to provide a calorie-free menu on request would preserve access to nutritional information while giving customers greater choice.
