Classify attacks on emergency and volunteer rescue services as acts of terror — 6 signatures. Status: rejected.
We call on the UK Government to introduce legislation that defines violent attacks, targeted intimidation, and doxxing directed at emergency services and volunteer rescue personnel as acts of terrorism under the Terrorism Act.
Emergency services and volunteer rescue teams—including maritime and land search-and-rescue—are vital to public safety. Coordinated blockades, harassment, and targeting represent a deliberate attempt to compromise critical infrastructure. Disrupting these operations directly causes widespread public endangerment. Classifying these offenses as terrorism will equip law enforcement and the judiciary with the powers to investigate, deter, and prosecute those who threaten public safety.
