UK Emergency Alerts system for missing children. send local mobile alerts

UK Emergency Alerts system for missing children. send local mobile alerts — 9 signatures. Status: rejected.

Petition background

We want the UK Government to expand the Emergency Alerts system so police can send targeted mobile alerts to phones in the local area when a child goes missing and is at high risk. The alert should give a short description and tell people to call 999 with any sightings, helping the public act fast.

Additional details

We call on the UK Government to expand the Emergency Alerts system so police can send targeted mobile alerts to phones in the local area when a child is reported missing and at risk. The alert should include a short description and tell people to call 999 with any sightings. It would use existing technology, reach people fast in the critical first hours, and stay local. This would complement the Child Rescue Alert and give communities a better chance to help bring missing children home safely.
