Introduce a UK-wide emergency mobile alert system for high-risk missing children, allowing police to rapidly alert people in the relevant area when a child is believed to be in serious or immediate danger.
When a child goes missing, the first hours can be critical. Thousands of people may be nearby and able to help, but may not know a child is missing. A targeted emergency alert could quickly reach people in the area with vital information, giving the public a chance to spot the child or provide information to police. Clear criteria would ensure alerts are only used for cases where there is a serious or immediate risk to the child.
