Criminalise all attempts of LGBT+ ‘conversion’ therapy in the UK. — 15 signatures. Status: rejected.
We want the government to put an end to the barbaric practice of LGBT+ conversion. Anyone found to be practicing conversation therapy on a member of the LGBT+ community (regardless of their reason to do so) should be prosecuted for psychological abuse and face serious criminal punishment.
The law must protect LGBT+ people in all spheres of life. Allowing religious groups to continue conversion therapy within the privacy of their own communities is not acceptable in a modern, liberal society. The damage being done is inexcusable. Those pressured into methods of conversion therapy should know that the law will take their side if they need it. Suicide, self harm and years of trauma are often the results of these medieval practices. We shouldn’t have to live in that country
