Reaffirming the creation of public money — 8 signatures. Status: rejected.
To debate and affirm that the creation of sterling for public expenditure is a sovereign public power; that the Bank of England creates money for public expenditure & credits it to HM Treasury; & that this is not the creation of a new power, but the reaffirmation of an existing sovereign right
The UK doesn't & shouldn't have to borrow or tax what it has the right to create without risk of inflation. The definitive evidence below confirms that inflation does not result from public money creation, provided only that the Government confirms the availability of the productive resources (trained workers; technology; equipment; materials) required for its programmes and their consequences, in the time period they cover. https://www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10.1080/00213624.2025.2533726
