Require an evidence-based review of health programmes before public broadcast — 8 signatures. Status: open.
We want the Government to amend media law so that factual TV and on-demand programmes, that make significant health or medical claims, undergo documented review by suitably qualified, independent experts before they are released to the public.
Ofcom doesn't approve shows before broadcast and the rules do not require independent review before release. We want prevention and post-release enforcement to improve public information. Misleading health claims can affect stigma, help-seeking and treatment decisions.
