We call on the UK Government and Parliament to review and stop the planned closure of Fothergill Ward, protect safe 24-hour patient care, ensure suitable alternatives for vulnerable patients, and safeguard the jobs of affected nurses, HCAs, housekeepers and administrative staff.

Additional details

Fothergill Ward provides holistic 24-hour care, skilled nursing, supervision, rehabilitation, end-of-life support, respite and advocacy for vulnerable patients and families. Its reduction from 26 to 20 beds and loss of key services have already changed its function. Closing it risks leaving patients without safe alternatives and places families and community services under greater pressure. We ask for transparent consultation, evidence of safe alternatives, and protection of all affected staff.
