Require all retail stores employing security guards to provide a suitable chair or seating at fixed security/CCTV stations, where duties can safely be performed while seated. Allow guards to alternate between sitting and standing to reduce the health risks associated with prolonged standing.
Security guards in retail stores can be required to stand for many hours, even when stationed at a fixed podium or CCTV desk where their duties can be safely performed while seated. Prolonged standing can cause fatigue, discomfort and musculoskeletal problems. This petition calls for retail stores to provide suitable seating and allow security guards to alternate between sitting and standing when operationally safe, without compromising security.
