We believe the consultation for the "In-use emissions of road vehicles: regulating environmental impacts" is a pretext for taking many internal combustion engine cars off the road and pushing car ownership outside the financial reach of millions of taxpayers. We want the consultation cancelled.
We feel the consultation is unclear over the aims to take older cars off the road, referencing badly maintained and modified vehicles, which we are concerned is open to scope creep. Many perfectly roadworthy cars currently on the road may be prematurely scrapped, we believe makes no environmental sense. At a time of financial hardship, we feel possible amendments to existing legislation could punish citizens who are already being squeezed by high inflation and low private sector annual pay increases.
