Stronger protections for vicims of abuse that wish to speak out about their experiences and for victims to be protected from legal action and being silenced again by the law being used as another form of intimidation and control.
Victims of abuse can be frightened into silence by threats of defamation claims, injunctions or other legal action. For someone who has already experienced intimidation or control, this can become another means of silencing them. Victims should be able to speak honestly and in good faith about their lived experiences without fear of disproportionate legal or financial consequences. This would not protect deliberately false or malicious allegations. Yet would give survivors a voice to be heard.
