We call on the UK Government to increase the maximum penalties for illegal fly-camping in the Lake District National Park to up to £1,000, particularly for serious or repeated offences and environmental damage, while protecting responsible low-impact outdoor recreation.

Additional details

The Lake District National Park is one of the UK's most valued landscapes. We are concerned about illegal and irresponsible fly-camping, including abandoned tents and equipment, litter, human waste, inappropriate fires, damage to vegetation, pollution and anti-social behaviour. We therefore call on the UK Government to enable fines of up to £1,000 for serious or repeated illegal fly-camping and associated environmental damage in the Lake District National Park.
