Give Women the Right to Carry Licensed Pepper Spray for Self-Defence — 6 signatures. Status: rejected.
Introduce a regulated licensing scheme allowing women aged 18 and over to legally carry Government-approved pepper spray for lawful self-defence. Require mandatory safety training, identity and eligibility checks, strict rules on possession and serious penalties for misuse
Violence against women and girls remains a serious concern across the UK. Many women feel unsafe walking alone, travelling on public transport or making everyday journeys. When an attack happens, police or other help may not be immediately available. Women should have a lawful and practical means of protecting themselves as a last resort when facing a genuine threat of violence, giving them a better chance to escape, seek help and get to safety.
