Require the NHS to proactively offer men from an appropriate age, such as 50, a PSA blood test to help detect prostate cancer, even when they have no symptoms.

Additional details

My 61-year-old father had no symptoms of prostate cancer. He wanted a PSA blood test but felt he had to claim symptoms to get one and felt laughed at when he raised his concerns. His PSA was 32. Further tests and biopsies confirmed prostate cancer. We have been told he may have had it for 3–5 years despite having no symptoms. Men should not have to wait for symptoms before prostate cancer is investigated. They should be proactively offered a PSA test from an appropriate age.
