Fund free rail travel for Armed Forces veterans and a nominated companion — 14 signatures. Status: open.
We ask the Government to fund free rail travel for everyone eligible for a Veterans Railcard, replacing the one-third discount. We also ask that a veteran's nominated companion, such as a spouse or partner, be entitled to free rail travel when travelling with the veteran.
Those who served in our Armed Forces accepted demands and sacrifices far beyond an ordinary career, and some never return home. Their families also endured deployments, separation and uncertainty, making them an integral part of that service. Free rail travel would be a practical, lasting way for the country to recognise veterans and those who supported them, while helping them stay connected to work, healthcare, family and their communities. A small national thank-you for a lifetime of service.
