STOP MOTABILITY ALLOWANCE CHANGES — 11 signatures. Status: rejected.
For many disabled people, a Motability vehicle is not a luxury but an essential means of maintaining independence. The allowance reduction stops people investing in simple pleasures every one else enjoys.
These changes could lead to: Increased financial pressure on people already living on fixed incomes or disability benefits. Difficult choices about whether they can afford a more suitable vehicle. Reduced ability to travel for hospital appointments, employment, education, caring responsibilities and social activities if they are concerned about exceeding mileage limits. Greater risk of isolation, particularly for people in rural areas where public transport is limited.
