Rolling Blackouts to automatically trigger a General Election within a month — 31 signatures. Status: open.
Defence of the Realm & Energy Security are primary responsibilities of the government. We feel a rolling blackout would represent a fundamental failure to meet that responsibility, which should automatically give the electorate opportunity to remove a mandate through a general election.
We believe current government policies are sacrificing energy security in favour of virtue-signalling. We feel 'renewable' technology is being favoured over stable, reliable, despatchable at scale CCGT & nuclear baseload power generation. We are concerned that the more 'renewable' generation with which the UK power grid is burdened, the greater is the risk of grid failures, brown-outs & blackouts which are direct results of government energy policy. Government must be held fully accountable for these.
