No Cuts to Frontline Fire Cover in Cleveland. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. £1.2m Needed. — 10 signatures. Status: rejected.
We urge the Government to increase funding for Cleveland Fire Brigade by £1.2m to protect the public. Cleveland is a unique area, with a huge industrial landscape, large travel networks and a growing community who face dangerous cuts. Financial deficit is forcing reductions, putting lives at risk.
Since 2010, Cleveland Fire Brigade has seen a reduction to our frontline cover by 33%, which equates to roughly 160 jobs. Cleveland FBU believes firefighter and public safety is being put at severe risk by further cutting frontline cover. We believe the communities we serve deserve better and we have decided to draw our line in the sand and fight for more funding and resources. The initial removal of an appliance overnight at Thornaby, with more to follow, is dangerous and must be stopped.
