Proper street lighting in predominantly elderly communities. — 6 signatures. Status: rejected.
I want the government to install efficient lighting in areas where they know elderly people predominantly live, to create a safer and more easily walkable environment for those with mobility issues or impaired vision.
My petition is to ensure that our elderly communities can leave their homes safely at any hour without worrying about whether they can see the edge of the curb. Even though it gets dark later in the summer, it’s still an issue as these communities remain sociable, and that shouldn’t have to stop because of safety concerns. Furthermore, in the winter months, it gets dark around 4 p.m., which is far too early for people to feel unsafe going out due to poor lighting.
