Review and strengthen CMS investigations of paying parent income — 12 signatures. Status: open.
We want the Government to review and strengthen Child Maintenance investigations to ensure hidden or understated income are identified, including through financial and lifestyle evidence, ensuring children receive a fair contribution from both parents.
We call on the Government to review and strengthen Child Maintenance investigations to ensure that when declared income may not reflect true financial means this is addressed. Investigations should consider hidden cash income, businesses held in partnership or other names, assets, dividends, property and significant lifestyle spending, inc holidays. In our view, receiving parents should not have to uncover hidden income themselves. Child maintenance is money for children, not a loophole for adults.
