Reduce the retirement age for the NHS pension scheme to 60 — 27 signatures. Status: open.
Reduce the retirement age for NHS staff pension scheme to 60. We are concerned NHS staff are facing extreme physical and mental burnout daily. High stress and long shifts can risk employee health and patient safety.
We want the Government to lower the age NHS staff can draw their full pension to protect staff and patients. NHS roles can be physically exhausting and mentally draining. Long shifts, heavy workloads, and intense stress can cause severe burnout. We believe having staff work until 65+ is dangerous, risks employee health and compromises patient safety. Lowering the retirement age could prevent workforce exhaustion, attract younger professionals into the service, prevent staff turnover & support frontline workers.
