Make all international sporting events involving UK national teams Category A events to ensure they are not blocked by paywalls and are free-to-air and view on television for the entire country to see and enjoy.
The recent Commonwealth Games were moved behind a paywall that so many could not access and therefore watch. We feel this is terrible for sport, as those athletes lose the chance to gain recognition, and it’s terrible for the country as many people cannot afford pay per view or are not tech savvy to use apps to stream these events. We believe everyone should be able to get behind and support national teams and sportspeople competing for national teams, and we risk losing our national identity and pride when only some of the nation can view these events.
