Change the driving test so candidates are not failed for theory questions alone.

Change the driving test so candidates are not failed for theory questions alone. — 20 signatures. Status: open.

Petition background

Ask the UK Government and DVSA to stop candidates being failed in the practical driving test for struggling with theory questions asked during the test. The practical test should assess safe driving, while the separate theory test assesses knowledge. Keep safety standards fair for all learners.

Additional details

Ask the UK Government and DVSA to review the practical driving test so candidates are not failed for struggling with theory questions asked during the test. The practical test should focus on safe, competent driving, while the separate theory test assesses knowledge. No one should fail solely because they struggle to recall or explain theory under pressure. This would keep safety standards high while making the test fairer for everyone.
