The last Education Reform Act was in 1988, under a Conservative government. Shift the focus for schools so that education offered is appropriate for all children, and in line with child development stages. We have a duty to serve the whole child, and all children. School expectations must change.
The marketisation of schools in the 1979 Education Act paved the way for schools to benefit the privileged, and fail the disadvantaged. Some SEND children are without school places in 2026. The rebalancing of subjects within the curriculum would be a step in the right direction for prioritising children's mental health, creativity, and critical thinking. If league tables were designed to reflect not only academic subjects, but core human skills, all children would have access to curiosity.
