Mandate bold, English allergen labelling on cosmetic and household care products — 11 signatures. Status: open.
Require manufacturers to list common food allergens in plain English & bold text on all cosmetics, toiletries & household detergents. The Office of Product Safety & Standards must update cosmetic & detergent regulations to require clear allergen labeling, aligning them with UK food safety standards.
Allergic reactions don't care whether you swallowed an allergen or rubbed it onto your skin. UK food laws require top allergens in bold, plain English. Yet you need a Latin degree to decipher these ingredients on soap, lip balm, and detergent. A family member suffered a painful reaction from soap listing almond only as Prunus Amygdalus. This is about our right to know. Whether managing a life-threatening allergy or making an ethical choice, we believe nobody should need a Latin degree to read a label.
