The proposed rules that force digital platforms like YouTube to prioritise legacy media like the BBC will harm smaller content creators by reducing their visibility to everybody. I am urging the Government to scrap the proposed rules to keep YouTube content diverse and accessible.
As a person who wants to be a content creator in the UK, I am very concerned about how this will affect me and millions of people who use platforms like YouTube and TikTok everyday. I understand legacy media has been declining, but forcing people to watch mainstream news on these site is tyrannical. That's why these proposed rules must be scrapped to keep smaller creators and independent new outlets accessible to everyone.
