Make Political Education Mandatory in School Curriculums — 6 signatures. Status: rejected.
Political education in schools is necessary for a political world that is constantly changing, and making it mandatory in primary and secondary schools curriculums, would allow everybody to understand the impact their vote has.
Citizenship GCSE and Politics A-Level are at the choice of the student. However, these same people later on do not get to 'choose' whether politics will affect them - politics affects everybody. Thus, giving students an adequate and compulsory education of the government and politics they live under is crucial. Whilst there have been steps to prevent radicalisation and enforce politics in PSHE lessons, this has proved inadequate, proving the fact that political education in schools is necessary.
