Define "Significant NHS Experience" as 2-3 years for Training Prioritisation

Define "Significant NHS Experience" as 2-3 years for Training Prioritisation — 2,869 signatures. Status: open.

Petition background

Define significant NHS service for medical training prioritisation as two years’ NHS service for entry to core specialty training and three years’ NHS service for entry to higher specialty training. We believe this will uphold fairness and protect the NHS workforce.

Additional details

In our view, doctors who have dedicated years of NHS service should have that contribution recognised in specialty training prioritisation. The Royal College of Physicians supports defining significant NHS experience as 2–3 years and basing prioritisation on NHS service rather than immigration status. We ask the government to define this as 2 years for entry to core specialty training and 3 years for higher specialty training.
