Petition background

We believe non-EU nationals and EU nationals in the UK under the EU Settlement Scheme should be governed under the same immigration, visa, settlement, benefits and social housing rules and requirements.

Additional details

This could create a fairer and more transparent system post-Brexit, reduce differences in the current system, and may help reduce pressure on public services and public finances. It could also reduce the number of dependants coming to the UK after being sponsored by EU nationals with EU Settled Status. We ask the UK Government to reform the current legal arrangements so that non-EU nationals and EU nationals residing in the UK under the EU Settlement Scheme are governed by the same rules and requirements.
