Give E bike users somewhere to ride rather than on the road. — 6 signatures. Status: rejected.
Sur-Ron and similar electric off-road bikes need legal places to ride. Dedicated e-bike parks and trails would reduce illegal road and woodland riding, improve safety, and give riders a proper place to enjoy their bikes away from the traffic.
Ebikes are designed mainly for off-road use, yet there aren’t many legal places to ride them. Riders are often left with the option of riding illegally on public roads, footpaths or woodland. Some even travel long distances to private tracks that may not allow electric bikes. A solution would be to create dedicated areas with tarmac, similar to streets. These areas could also reduce illegal riding and give police clearer grounds to deal with people riding in unsuitable places and redirect them.
