Ban alcohol advertising in petrol stations

Ban alcohol advertising in petrol stations — 26 signatures. Status: open.

Petition background

We call on the Government to ban alcohol advertising, including promotional displays and marketing, in petrol stations. Alcohol can be linked to addiction, poor mental health, physical illness and social harm. Yet, petrol stations display alcohol through signs, offers and promotions.

Additional details

For people in recovery, this can be a trigger and may increase the risk of relapse during routine activities such as refuelling. We believe petrol stations are essential services, not places where people should be confronted by alcohol promotion. Reducing exposure could support public health and protect vulnerable people. We therefore urge the Government to introduce legislation prohibiting alcohol advertising, promotional signage, and marketing displays at petrol stations.
