We ask the Government to require schools to teach about the Roma Community. Many in the Roma Community have experienced a lot, yet there are some who do not know who they are and mistake them for other communities. This proposal could stop racism that Roma pupils experience in school.
If we specifically teach pupils about the Roma Community, Roma children may not feel left out or receive racial abuse. We are taught in school to respect all races, and we therefore believe that schools should teach about the Roma Community including what they have experienced and how they were impacted by Nazism in World War II, as well as what members of the Roma Community experience during their day-to-day lives.
