Allow regulated less-lethal self-defence devices for responsible adults — 10 signatures. Status: rejected.
We ask the UK Government to review the law so responsible adults can legally buy, carry and use approved less-lethal self-defence devices, such as PAVA spray, regulated T4E-type launchers and pepper balls, under strict licensing, training and safety controls
Many people feel unsafe due to violent crime, especially when alone or at night. A properly regulated system would give law-abiding adults a lawful means of self-protection, help reduce fear of crime, and improve public confidence in safety. Current law treats pepper spray and similar sprays as prohibited weapons; police guidance says the only fully legal self-defence product is a rape alarm.
