Don't Make Netflix and Amazon Prime Subscribers Fund the BBC Licence Fee — 6 signatures. Status: rejected.
We want the UK Government to rule out proposals that would require Netflix and Amazon Prime subscribers to fund the BBC through licence fee charges added to their private subscription fees as this is wholly unfair and removes consumer choice for those who take great moral issue with the BBC content.
Netflix and Amazon Prime are private services that millions of people already pay for. Requiring subscribers to contribute the equivalent of the current BBC licence fee on top of these subscriptions would effectively increase the cost of using those services by around £180 a year, placing an unfair additional financial burden on households during a cost-of-living crisis.
