Policing by consent relies upon public trust, accountability, fairness, transparency, and the equal application of the law. Many members of the public now believe these principles are not being consistently upheld. Concerns include failures in accountability, unequal treatment, inadequate investigations, a lack of transparency, and the erosion of public trust between communities and police forces.
