Security Clearance process is flawed and needs a rethink — 8 signatures. Status: rejected.
The current process for security clearance, either SC or DV is flawed and needs a rethink. Most (99%) employment adverts for Gov or Defense roles are stating that an active SC or DV clearance is a prerequisite for applying for the role. This narrows the field and rules out a majority of candidates.
This situation means that only those with active clearance can apply for the roles and the only way their clearance can be active is if they are currently in a SC/DV cleared role. Therefore it is only a limited pool of candidates that can be eligible for these positions leading to the poaching of candidates from other Gov or Defense security cleared roles leaving a vacuum of talent and a damaging churn of skills.
