Manchester airport fines for under 5 minute drop off should not be allowed

Manchester airport fines for under 5 minute drop off should not be allowed — 7 signatures. Status: rejected.

Petition background

Parliament needs to review the legality of allowing airports to charge £60-£100 fines for parking that is less than 5 minutes now they have removed the barriers to pay. This is purely for the purposes of them making more money than anything to do with traffic flow as this has also not improved.

Additional details

Anything under 5 minutes should be free and they should not be allowed to charge £60-£100 fines for people who do not pay within 24 hours bearing in mind people are dropping people off at the airport are often travelling 20+ minutes home and thus are forgetting. We should at least see information on the volume of fines issued since they have changed the rules and the barriers have been lifted + evidence of traffic flow improving. It is a racket and they should not be allowed to fine people £60+
