However, permanent oversized flag poles in residential gardens pose real concerns; safety risks in high winds, obstruction of light and views, and in some cases intimidation of neighbours from different backgrounds, contrary to Britain’s values of tolerance and respect. We call for council approval to be required for flag poles.
